Tuesday’s Cigar Tips (How to light your cigar)

As an avid cigar smoker, we all come up with different techniques and routines that work best for us, before we start our smoking sessions. Therefore, today’s cigar tip will discuss how to light your cigar, so it burns evenly.

How to light your cigar:

The one caveat to add about cigar smoking is that even the most seasoned cigar enthusiast can still experience some minor annoyances such as uneven burning or a dying cherry. Therefore, it is good for reading up on the correct lighting methods, because you might still experience this from time-to-time. There’s really no certain rhyme or reason as to why this is occurring, sometimes it can be as a result of a faulty cigar, or an incomplete technique.

Therefore, a great way to keep your cigar burning evenly is to rotate the slow-burning side to the bottom. This method works, because the bottom side will burn faster, as the oxygen needed to feed the flame isn’t being displaced by the smoke.

In addition, to assure a great light and an even flame, you want to choose the right lighter. The right lighter does not mean more expensive, but one that will give you the best lighting results with enough ignite to toast the foot of the cigar. Also, pulling and releasing the draw as you’re lighting your cigar will help, as well as blowing into the cherry.
