Gents and Cigar Sticks: Dapper Gent of the week is Samuel McCray out of Ohio.
When you are allotted the opportunity to partake in the enjoyment and fulfillment of smoking a cigar, it can bring forth a soulful connection, which has a different feeling and meaning to each person. When you pick a cigar from your personal humidor, and/or purchase one from your favorite cigar shop or lounge, you aren’t just grabbing any type of stick for giggles and laughs, it’s a process most follow, before selecting. You take your time with your selection, whether you are factoring in what type of mood you are in, if you’re observing the atmosphere and scenery of the location you are in, your chosen stick could even come down to what you will be drinking at the moment, and/or if you had enough to drink, or not enough, these are all factors one may consider, before picking out the right stick.
The picking out process of a cigar for an enthusiast would be like what sneakers mean, to those who are called “Sneakerheads.” We take the time to learn about the cigar, we touch the cigar, we caress the cigar, we hold it up in the light, to see the veins and texture of the cigar, we might even possibly smell the cigar, to get a full glimpse and feeling about the cigar before, it’s picked to smoke. And, of course, we are collectors, which we proudly build-up our humidors with a variety of cigars that are of our favorites, classics, hard to come by, those we save for special occasions to bring out, those we share with friends and family at gatherings, and that one particular cigar that takes to you a place, like no other, is all a part of the process.
As it pertains to our Dapper Gent of the week, Samuel McCray, who was introduced to cigars by his uncle, at the age of 21. Samuel had no idea back then that some almost 13 years later, this would become a true passion for him.
Samuel goes into a deep reflection while having his cigars, it allows him the opportunity to slow time down while puffing. Also, when Samuel has a cigar, he establishes what that cigar means to him, by bringing a sense of awareness or change. The awareness is being knowledgeable and educated about that cigar such as knowing the brand, the region, its origins, the blends and makeup of the cigar, as well as it’s comparability or similarity to other cigars. The change is all personal, the cigar will either change your emotion and expression related to your thought process or viewpoint in that instant.
Samuel likes to have Scotch or any sort of Whiskey with his cigars.
Samuel is our Dapper Gent of the week, because he is a deep and conscious “Brother of the Leaf” (BOTL), he is very confident and assure of himself, he is loyal to a fault, and while having a cigar, it’s when his true expression of himself shines through, which is very intriguing and mysterious.
