Tuesday’s Cigar Tips

As an avid cigar smoker, we all come up with different techniques and routines that work best for us prior to starting our smoking session and during it, and there are a few things we learn along the way. Everyone’s techniques and routines are different, based on your own preference or there can be some similarities. Therefore, to further connect with you and provide you with resources and details about cigars, I’ve created these weekly cigar tips for you to utilize.

What’s all this mumbo jumbo about dipping your cigar into your whiskey?

The concept of dipping your cigar into your whiskey started with Winston Churchill, who preferred his cigar dipped in Brandy.

This is done by pouring about an inch high of whiskey into a cup. You’ll cut your cigar and dip the cut side into the bottom of the glass that you poured the whiskey into, soaking the cigar in the whiskey. You might want to give it a few good twists to fully penetrate the cigar, remove the cigar from the glass and light the foot of the cigar, as normal, and enjoy.

Sounds easy enough! No harm, no foul, so what’s the fuss?

Well, even though this is a cool and clever trick and often done in the culture. However, it’s also insulting the cigar makers, who spend years perfecting the flavor profile of that individual stick. Overall, if you don’t like the cigar that you are smoking, then don’t smoke it and select another one. If you prefer an infused cigar that will come already prepared and flavored, which will come in options from Brandy, Whisky, Cognac, Coffee, Honey, Chocolate, etc.…, then you should purchase one of those, but never just cut the head of your cigar and dip it into whisky for the sake of it.

Keep it Smokey, My Friends!!!!!!!

    1. Thanks for reading our article! And, though it’s not recommended by us to dip your cigar, but yes, it’s your call to dip, to avoid wasting a cigar in the ashtray that you’ve spent your money on, and dipping may not overall improve the taste of the cigar for you palate. Dipping is soley based on preference, but not the norm or required.
